when I was young, I must admit
that I'd found you quite a catch
this fading bill of dentistry
my fading will has falsed my teeth
my bite my bark and character arc
seem a little vague and senseless to me
the only thing I ever wanted to do
would be a midlife crisis if it happened to you
tell your son the failure is mine
there's nothing here but pale oil
wash his hands in turpentine
let him turn his own soil
robots stalk through the snow in the streets
kicking all the dogs they meet
scooping up the field mice
and bopping them on the head
at least that's what I've read
from my bedside I swear I can hear
their tiny little screams
it doesn't seem to affect my sleeping pattern
and no, I don't find that odd
'cause I will eat anything that moves
I will eat anything that moves
I will eat anything that moves
oh I will eat it all
we are committed to this
like two cats in a burlap sack
I feel I know where this is headed
and if I were you I wouldn't hold my breath
to hell with pleasantries
you're off and heading east
no consequence of note
embarrassing exchange
completely inhumane
combatting social blows
frostbitten toes and nose
incredibly detailed
a break to catch your breath
a pause to humor death
I love how you've prevailed
for every ounce of pain
you'll sing a sweet refrain
and make your way back home
your mother will be there
to tend to every care
to tell you're not alone
the chill down in your bones
is not of worry here
the unforgiving air
holds treasure everywhere
and history to fear
let's reveal a truth
to ask for sweeter fruit
we'll need to pull a tooth
one critical mistake, or better yet display
to hang around and stay
come and take a seat, let all misgivings pass
a bed of moss to sleep, no mark of social class
the evening will reveal something to canonize the famed terrain
no need to understand what happens, now, it's just beginning to rain
